11. When is the best time to visit the Serengeti?
The best time to visit the park is in the dry season (late June to October). But this can be customized to match your interests on different activities.
22. How long should I stay in Serengeti?
Three to four days, we recommend three to four days for a full Serengeti experience. With so much to see. More days are better than too few.
33. What is the ‘great migration?
Known as the Serengeti great migration, the Serengeti great migration is one of the world’s most spectacular natural events. Every year, around about the same time, over a million wildebeest, zebra and antelope (to a lesser extent) migrate clockwise around the Serengeti and Masai Mara ecosystem. Movements of the herds may vary from month-to-month, as the great migration is not an exact science and is dependent on the rains.
44. What is the weather like in the Serengeti?
The climate of the SNP is subtropical, with a dry and relatively cool season from May to August, a warmer and still quite dry season in September and October, and a rainy and hot season from November to April. The proximity of the Serengeti to the equator means that temperatures are relatively temperate.
55. How do I get to the Serengeti?
Serengeti national park is located in northern Tanzania and extends to southwestern Kenya. The park can easily be reachable from Arusha city by either on ground or air.
66. What about accommodation in Serengeti?
Serengeti national park lodges and campsite are located both inside and outside the park with a range from budget to luxury type of accommodation to suit you.
77. How much is a hot air balloon ride in Serengeti?
Price per person is around 500 to 600 USD, which covers the ride, a champagne toast after the landing, and a delicious bush breakfast with options for vegan/ vegetarians.
88. Can I obtain my visa at the airport?
USA, Canadian, British and most European citizens can obtain their visas upon arrival at Kilimanjaro National Airport. The cost is $100 for USA passport holders and $50 for others. If you are a citizen of a different country, please check with your embassy whether you can obtain a visa upon arrival.
99. How early do I have to book my Serengeti safari?
If you plan on traveling during the high season (June – September, December – March) 8 to 12 months, we suggest you book your safari as far in advance as possible so we can secure your preferred accommodations. We can book on short notice. However, your safari will be subject to availability of rooms in the various accommodation and lodges.
1010. What should I wear on Serengeti safari in Tanzania?
As the country resides close to the Equator, the travellers are likely to experience sudden changes in climate. It’s advisable to carry safari clothes that are light green and khaki colour which won’t attract the animals. Pack your clothes in layers. Pack some full sleeve shirts, full pants, good shoes or boots, Sunglasses, Sunscreen and lip balm, Insect repellent, Camera, Binoculars, Batteries and/or charger for your camera, Medical Essentials, etc.
1111. Do lodges and camps have mosquito nets?
Not all the lodges and camps provide mosquito nets. Though most high-end lodges and luxury tents provide mosquito nets, however, also the housekeeping staff mostly use mosquito sprays most of the time. You are advised to come with insect repellent with you.
1212. Is it safe to travel to Serengeti?
Serengeti National Park is safe to visit as long as you follow the rules and guidelines set out by park staff and your guide.
Incidents with wildlife are extremely rare on safaris, especially when everyone is there to respectfully view animals in their natural habitats.
